New Cubs Related Blog

April 15, 2008

I have started a Cubs blog called Ivy Envy.  There are going to be six life-long Cubs fans writing for the blog.  It’s started, but is nowhere near finished.  Check it out and if you know anyone that might enjoy it, spread the word.

All Time Favorite Records, Part I

April 8, 2008

My old band Campion, played a show in Evansville, Indiana in 1999 or 2000, somewhere in there.  The guy that set the show up came up to me as we got out of our van and said that it looked like there would be a good turnout and he was really excited that the guys from Mock Orange were there to see the show.  I had never heard of them, but he seemed really excited they were there, so I figured I should see what they were all about.

Mock Orange - Nines and Sixes

I ordered Nines and Sixes (Lobster Records) from Al at Co-op Records in Rock Island.  You know, back in the day when you went to record stores to special order your stuff that was too unknown for them to carry.  Read the rest of this entry »

Walmart does the right thing

April 2, 2008

Call it caving to public pressure.  Call it “seeing the light”.  It doesn’t matter.  Walmart actually announced they will not seek the money awarded to them in a lawsuit against Debbie Shank.    Read the rest of this entry »

Daytrotter is breathing life into a portion of the Quad Cities music scene that has been dead for as long as I can remember. I have not seen many mid-sized or bigger indie rock bands come through here.     Read the rest of this entry »

Honesty from a Cubs Fan

April 1, 2008

chicago_cubs_logo.png

The temperature struggles to hit 40 degrees and a blanket of cold rain smothers the Midwest. It must be opening day for Major League Baseball. I am a Cubs fan.  I root for the team that has now gone 100 years without winning the World Series.  I’m the type of Cubs fan that is optimistic about an upcoming season, but before the ivy has turned green and the first pitch has even been thrown out, I have already prepared myself for a disastrous outcome.      Read the rest of this entry »

Lady with Brain Injury sued by Wal-Mart

This story has been out there for a little bit, and I would assume most people have heard about this.  Those of you that personally know me are aware that my beef with Wal-Mart is long-standing and personal.     Read the rest of this entry »

Obama is the Antichrist?

March 25, 2008

I got wrapped up in this History Channel show last night about Hitler and Nostradamus and other prophets/psychics/etc. that predicted the rise of Hitler with great accuracy.  They end the show talking about the next evil person that Nostradamus talks about.  That person is referred to as “Mabus”.  This stuff interests me quite a bit.  I’m the guy that believes in Sasquatch, gnomes, UFO’s, Chupacabra, ghosts, EVP and anything else paranormal or discussed by Art Bell.  I’ve been to Area 51 multiple times.  I’m that guy, you know?  So I will at least entertain some pretty wacky ideas.   Read the rest of this entry »

Dick Cheney says “so”? And he predicted everything.

March 25, 2008

We’ve been in Iraq for 5 years now.  Yesterday, the 4,000 mark was passed for US soldiers killed in Iraq.  Were you aware that 97% of those came after George W. Bush declared “Mission Accomplished”?  If you oppose the war (2/3 of Americans do), Dick Cheney essentially says “Fuck you”.  This is from Good Morning America.    Read the rest of this entry »
